In short
- No ads, no accounts, no analytics and no tracking.
- Progress, players and settings stay on your device. We don't collect, sell or share any of it.
- Optional exam packs are bought through Apple or Google, behind a parental gate.
01Who we are
Spellgrove is a word puzzle game for children and grown-ups, made by Nilanchala Panigrahy, an independent developer trading as Spannable Labs (spannable.com). We built it to collect nothing about the people who play it. This policy explains what that means in practice.
02Information we collect
We don't collect any personal information. Spellgrove has no sign-up, no user accounts and no servers of ours that your data is sent to. It contains no advertising, analytics or tracking code, and we don't sell or share information about you with anyone.
03Information stored on your device
To make the game work, Spellgrove keeps the following on your device only:
- Your progress: levels played, stars, scores, coins, words learned, practice progress, streaks, badges and settings.
- Player profiles: if your family adds players, each one's chosen name (or nickname) and animal avatar. We suggest a first name or nickname only.
- Your answers to in-app questions, for example which kind of words you chose to start with.
04Features that use your device
- Reading aloud: words and clues are spoken using your device's built-in text-to-speech.
- Daily reminder: if you turn it on, the reminder is scheduled on your device. No server is involved.
- Sharing: if you tap Share after a daily puzzle, the app opens your device's share sheet with a short, spoiler-free summary. Nothing is shared unless you choose to send it.
05Purchases
Spellgrove is free to play, and every themed pack is free. Optional exam packs can be bought in the app, behind a parental gate that asks a question a young child can't answer.
Purchases are made through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google), under their terms and privacy policies. We never see your name, email address or payment details. The app only asks your device's store which packs your account owns, so it can unlock them.
06Device backups
If device backups are turned on (iCloud Backup on Apple devices, or Google backup on Android), your operating system may include Spellgrove's progress in them, so it can be restored on a new device. Backups are created and stored by Apple or Google under your account, and we have no access to them.
07Children
Spellgrove is designed to be safe for children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent age where you live). The app has no chat, no contact with other players, no ads and no links to other websites inside the game for children. Grown-up areas, such as purchases, are behind a parental gate.
08Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR (EU and UK), the CCPA (California) and COPPA (US) give you rights over personal information, including access, correction and deletion. Because we don't collect or hold any personal information, there is nothing for us to provide or delete, and we don't sell or share personal information. If you have a question about your data, contact us using the form below.
09Deleting your data
Remove a player in the app's Settings to delete their progress. Deleting Spellgrove removes everything it stored on the device. Copies in device backups are removed when those backups are deleted or replaced.
10Changes to this policy
If we change how Spellgrove handles information, we'll update this page and the date above before the change reaches the app.
