ZenPlay

Privacy Policy

Last updated

In short

  • No account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
  • Your playlists and viewing history stay on your device. We don't collect, sell or share any of it.
  • The app only connects to the IPTV provider you add, and to the app store for the free trial and purchases.

01Who we are

ZenPlay is made by Nilanchala Panigrahy, an independent developer trading as Spannable Labs (spannable.com). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use ZenPlay on iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, Fire TV, Android TV or LG webOS TV.

02Information we collect

We don't collect any personal information. ZenPlay has no sign-up, no user accounts and no servers of ours that your data is sent to. It contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking code, and we don't sell or share information about you with anyone.

03Information stored on your device

To work, ZenPlay keeps the following on your device only:

  • Playlist details you enter: Xtream Codes server address, username and password, or M3U and EPG (TV guide) addresses.
  • The channel list, movie and series catalogue and TV guide downloaded from your provider.
  • Profiles, My List, Recently Watched and playback positions.
  • Parental control settings. Kids profile PINs are stored as a salted, one-way hash, never as the PIN itself.
  • App settings, and on iPhone and iPad, films and episodes you download for offline viewing.
  • On Android and Fire TV, the date your free trial started.

04Your IPTV provider

ZenPlay connects directly to the provider you add in order to sign in, download the catalogue and TV guide, show artwork and play streams, including periodic background refreshes. These requests go straight from your device to your provider, and include the login details you entered. Your provider's own privacy policy covers what it does with them.

ZenPlay provides no content and has no relationship with any provider.

05Free trial and purchases

ZenPlay offers a 7-day free trial and a one-time ZenPlay Lifetime purchase. There is no subscription, and nothing is charged automatically when the trial ends.

  • On iPhone and iPad, the free trial is a free item in the App Store, so it's linked to your Apple ID and isn't restarted by reinstalling the app.
  • On Android and Fire TV, the trial's start date is saved on your device (and in your device backup, if you use one).
  • Purchases are handled entirely by the Apple App Store, Google Play or the Amazon Appstore. We never see your name, payment details or store account. The app only receives confirmation from the store that a trial or purchase is active.
  • The LG webOS version has no trial or purchases.

06Permissions

  • Local network (iPhone and iPad): lets ZenPlay reach IPTV servers and playlists on your home network. It isn't used for anything else.
  • Notifications (Android): shows the progress of downloads. You can turn it off in your device settings.

07Device backups

If device backups are turned on (iCloud Backup on Apple devices, or Google backup on Android), your operating system may include ZenPlay's settings in them: your playlists and their login details, profiles, My List and, on Android, the trial start date. Backups are created and stored by Apple or Google under your account, and we have no access to them.

08Crash reports

If you've chosen to share diagnostics with app developers in your device settings, Apple or Google may send us anonymous crash reports and performance statistics. These don't identify you, and we use them only to fix problems. You can turn this off in your device's privacy settings.

09Security

ZenPlay keeps your information in its private app storage, which other apps can't read, and sends your login details only to the provider you added. Because we don't run any servers that hold your data, there's nothing of yours for us to lose.

Many IPTV providers use plain http:// addresses. Connections to those addresses aren't encrypted, so if your provider offers an https:// address, we recommend using it.

10Children

ZenPlay isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13. Kids profiles exist so a parent can limit what can be watched; they don't collect or share data.

11Your rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR (EU and UK) and the CCPA (California) give you rights over your personal information, including access, correction and deletion. Because we don't collect or hold any personal information, there is nothing for us to provide or delete, and we don't sell or share personal information. If you have a question about your data, contact us using the form below.

12Deleting your data

Removing a playlist in Settings deletes its login details and downloaded catalogue. Deleting a profile removes its lists and history. Uninstalling ZenPlay removes everything it stored on the device. Copies in device backups are removed when those backups are deleted or replaced.

13Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. If a change affects how your information is handled, it will also be noted in the app's release notes.
